Category: Jam Session
Ok, wasn't sure if this would be a geek question or jam session. I have recently got into classical music and I want to remember what pieces I have as my collection grows. I thought early on, while I'm still not familiar with everything, maybe a way to catalogue them would be a good idea.
This is what I'd like to do and I'm wondering if there is a program or a way to do this that I'm not aware of.
What if I had a form to fill out and my responces were automatically put in place. Say: composer, performer, piece, and so on. I'd fill that out and it would fall into alphibetical order for example.
Smile, am I making any sense? A similar idea to the braille N Speak phonebook.
What do y'all think? Aside from I might be nuts...grin!
I have used c dex and it fills in the album name and tracks. sorry thats all I know.
I use Microsoft Excel for stuff like this. You can make whatever categories you want and have excel sort it alphabetically by artist, album, song title or whatever.
if you buy cd's, use exact audio copy. if you don't, you'd better name the songs how you like and tag them when you get them. otherwise it can turn into a mess, and that can get out of hand real quick.
Oh wait, I'm a moron. You're probably talking about organizing your stuff on a computer. My brain is clearly malfunctioning. I was thinking you wanted to know what CDs you had and what was on them. I use Excel to keep track of my CD collection. I have no advice about storing stuff on the computer. My music collection on the computer is a bit of a mess and I haven't found any software that I like.
Nope Okie, I think you get it. Sounds like excel or microsoft works database will be my best bet. I'm going a little old fashion for right now, and catiloguing them via my braille N Speak.
I downloaded a trial of some music database software, but it looks a bit too much for my needs. It is more meant for dj's.
